6 & B Garden screens Chantal Akerman’s 1989 film American Stories: Food, Family and Philosophy (Histoires d'Amérique) on Thursday September 10, 2026, 20:00–22:00. Akerman’s film is Jewish immigrant storytelling in New York — jokes, family, food, philosophy — shot with her usual patience. Watching it in an Avenue B community garden is the right kind of downtown accident. Outdoor screening. Bring a seat. Rain cancels. Check 6bgarden.org the afternoon of the show. This is a film night for people who already care about Akerman or are willing to sit still for her.
Buy a drink, grill food is free. Sundays 17:30–19:30 through Sep 6.
